Dollar Holidays

Burger King had the perfect solution for those who were cutting down on gift-giving in 2010.

This site allowed consumers to send a holiday card containing a real dollar bill to those who are at the bottom of their gift list. As BK puts it on its Web site: "Casual friends don't deserve second-rate gifts."

There were 20 e-cards in the collection, and each costs $1 to send. Senders could decide on the tone and type of card.

More than 8,000 of the gift cards were sold on the program's first day.
